Code of Conduct

To allow the Trend Community to develop and grow in a healthy and respectful fashion, we have some rules that everyone needs to follow.  Unfortunately, anyone who can't follow these rules may be banned from using the Trend Community.

Trend Micro cares deeply about internet security and that includes while you are in the Trend Community.  Please do not use real names or any other personally identifying information or the name, phone number, address, password or any other personally identifying information of any other person or business in your Trend Community profile.

In choosing a screen name and creating a profile, please keep in mind that whenever you post your messages, your screen name and a link to your profile and online status will automatically appear with your post. Please refrain from creating a user name and profile that is unlawful, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, indecent, lewd, harassing, threatening, violent, racist, abusive, harmful, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, inflammatory or otherwise objectionable or injurious to third parties.

A team of professional moderators are monitoring the Trend Community and all the internal areas.  From time to time moderators may participate in discussions, but their primary purpose is to help facilitate the functioning of the boards and assist you in their use.  Their main duty is to enforce the guidelines listed below.

You are prohibited from engaging in any of the following:

a. Deceptive or misleading practices;

b. Submitting content that is or could be considered unlawful, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, indecent, lewd, harassing, threatening, racist, abusive, harmful, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, inflammatory or otherwise objectionable or injurious to anyone, or is considered intimidating or stalking behavior by anyone;

c. Taking any action, uploading, posting, streaming or transmitting any content, language, images or sounds in any forum, communication, public profile or other publicly viewable areas that Trend Community, in its sole discretion, finds offensive, hateful or vulgar. This includes any content or communication that Trend Community in its sole discretion deems to be racially, ethnically, religiously, or sexually offensive, libelous, defaming, threatening, bullying or stalking;

d. Organizing hate groups;

e. Uploading, posting streaming or transmitting any content that contains any viruses, worms, spyware, time bombs or other computer programs that may damage, interfere with or disrupt the Community or computers or other users;

f. Causing disruption to the Community or any system, hardware, software or network connected to the Community;

g. Attempting to hack or reverse engineer any code or equipment in connection with the Community;

h. Making a false report of user abuse to Trend Community management;

i. Violating any local, state or national law;

j. Taking any action that we consider to be disruptive to the normal flow of activities on the Community, including uploading, posting, streaming or transmitting any unsolicited or unauthorized material, including junk mails, SPAM, excessive mails or chain letters;

k. Distributing commercial content such as advertisements, solicitations, and promotions, including links to such websites;

l. Uploading, posting, streaming, accessing or otherwise transmitting any content that you know or should have known infringes or violates any third-party rights, any law or regulation or contractual or fiduciary obligations;

m. A posting that is off-topic according to the description of the blog, forum or webpage - no hijacking a dialogue or topic;

n. Impersonating any person, including an employee of Trend Micro, Inc. or any third-party, including using any Trend Micro Inc. domain name as a pseudonymous return email address;

o. Using, making or distributing unauthorized software or hardware in conjunction with the Community, or taking or using any data from the Community to design, develop or update unauthorized software or hardware.

p. Posting that contains a charity request, petitions for signatures, chain letters or letters relating to a pyramid scheme;

q. Using any robot, spider, or other such programmatic or automatic device, including but not limited to automated dial-in or inquiry devices, to obtain information from the Community or otherwise monitor or copy any portion of the Site, products and/or services;

r. Systematically collecting and using any content including the use of any data mining, or similar data gathering and extraction methods;

Above all, act responsibly. Please remember that advice or information posted in a discussion is the personal opinion of the person providing it. If something sounds wrong to you, do not try it. Furthermore, if any user asks you for personal information, such as an account number, address, password or credit card number, do not provide it - instead, report the user to a moderator.

Finally, Trend Micro provides no formal customer support via these boards.  However, employees from many different Trend Micro departments actively follow and sometimes volunteer their expertise and new information to these discussions. Trend Affiliates and our knowledgeable fans may also volunteer their knowledge and experience.  If you are a Trend Micro customer you are welcome to open a formal case for support.  Support contact information is located on the Community header menus, on trendmicro.com, and in your software.

Constructive feedback is valued and always welcome.

Now get out there and enjoy the Trend Community!
