Hi,
This seems to be the file causing pop ups from Vista Total Security 2011:
C:\Users\Wendy\AppData\Local\uev.exe
You might want to run the Trend Micro FakeAV removal tool. It should be able to detect that file and remove it from your computer after reboot. Just make sure that the file above is still running on your computer when you run the tool as it would not be detected if you end its process.
Here is a link on how you can run the FakeAV removal tool:
http://esupport.trendmicro.com/Pages/Fake-Antiviru
Thanks,

Hi Robinoco,
In addition to ChristianN's recommendation, if the fakeAV removal tool failed to remove the virus, just delete the file C:\Users\Wendy\AppData\Local\uev.exe
Thanks,
Irvin

Hi robinoco,
You can also try this if the above steps didn't resolve your issue:
1. Download the Virus.txt file attached to this post and save it on the Desktop.
2. Download Twin Fix tool by clicking on the link below:
http://solutionfile.trendmicro.com/solutionfile/TI
3. When the File Download window opens, click Save.
4. On the Save As window, select Desktop as the location for the downloaded file and click Save.
5. Run TwinFix.exe by doing either of the following:
- For Windows XP, double-click on the TwinFix.exe file.
- For Windows Vista, right-click on the TwinFix.exe file then select Run as administrator and click Continue.
6. When you see the message saying your computer will be restarted after the malware is removed, click OK to continue.
Note: The TwinFix tool will run silently (i.e. no window will appear) and automatically restart your computer once it has removed the malware listed in Virus.txt.

I am very confused! I have been trying all of the suggestions but to no avail.
Here is my HijackThis log...

OOPS! so I decided to go ahead and change the virus.txt to the file that appeared to be my problem "..alk.exe" and then ran the TwinFix program. I think the virus is indeed gone but now "explorer.exe- APPLICATION NOT FOUND"
what do I do!?

Can someone please take a look at my HiJack this log and verify if I have successfully removed the Fake Vista Total Security 2011 malware/scareware??? I have recently installed and ran a 4hour WipeDrive SystemSaver that cleaned out my PC. I currently have 379GB Free of 450 GB on this laptop. ( 14.8 Free of 14.9 Recovery space.) I have removed all personal info/data/photos from the laptop and need to make sure the malware is also gone. Since running this WipeDrive software I keep getting a pop up for Dell DataSafe Local Backup trying ti launch but states it cannot and to click to close the box. Tis pops up EVERY FIVE MINUTES interferring with any basic tasks on this laptop. Please advise before I just CAN this laptop and buy brand new for piece if mind!!

Hi LG13,
Ive read your log and it appears that there are no infections aside from this single line:
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Launcher] "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell DataSafe Local Backup\Components\scheduler\Launcher.exe"
Run Hijackthis.exe > Do a System Scan Only > locate this line and place a check mark on it.
Then click Fix Check button.
Buying a new laptop should be your last option as your machine is still usable and would definitely cost you more. With regard to the annoying pop-ups from Dell, (and I assume that you are using a Dell laptop) please contact Dell support and ask for removal of those unwanted annoying applications from them. Hope this helps!
Cheers!
