Moneypak Ransomware

I have been infected with the Moneypak Ransomware Trojan....it locked my browser, put up a fake FBI screen and told me I was distributing copyrighted material and illegal porn and I needed to pay a fine.  A complete load of BS

I shut down my wireless router to get around it and put my computer into safe mode.  I have done a system restore, which has unlocked my browser and has hopefully gotten rid of this...but something tells me it is still hiding somewhere.  I have fully updated Trend Micro Titanium 2012, I have run a full system scan of my computer and it says my computer is clean.  Can I trust that Trend Micro scan is accurate on this type of virus?  Is there an update coming that will protect me from future ransomeware attacks?

Really upset with my company's new trend micro installation: Moneybank virus.

I figure i will have better luck here than overseas support... since we installed trend, TWO computers have gotten a catastrophic virus infection--the Moneybank FBI Child Porn warning...it locks out explorer, task manager, etc. I was able to delete the users profile, and he's working fine again, but how did this threat make it through our new anti-virus solution? this makes me not want to trust Trend, and my VP of IT is a little pissed off. can someone tell me why trend didn't catch this, and why didn't the web community not tag this as a threat, either?

FBI MoneyPak virus

[ Edited ]

Hi all, we recently changed over to trend worry-free business security. as soon as we got norton off our network, two computers got the FBIMoneyPak Win32/Reveton.A virus. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me why Trend did not catch this. It was easily fixed by wiping the users local profile, but i still want to know why it made it through. any ideas?

Re: Really upset with my company's new trend micro installation: Moneybank virus.

that is disturbing, as the saleperson was telling me how they catch zero day threats because of the web community and all this fancy stuff.

not good.  if this happens one or two more times, we will have to scrap this and go back to norton (so much for saving a little money)
