Re: Vista Total Security 2011

Hi Robinoco,

In addition to ChristianN's recommendation, if the fakeAV removal tool failed to remove the virus, just delete the file C:\Users\Wendy\AppData\Local\uev.exe

Thanks,

Irvin

Re: Vista Total Security 2011

Hi robinoco,

You can also try this if the above steps didn't resolve your issue:

1. Download the Virus.txt file attached to this post and save it on the Desktop.

2. Download Twin Fix tool by clicking on the link below:

http://solutionfile.trendmicro.com/solutionfile/TIS/TwinFix.exe

3. When the File Download window opens, click Save.

4. On the Save As window, select Desktop as the location for the downloaded file and click Save.

5. Run TwinFix.exe by doing either of the following:

    - For Windows XP, double-click on the TwinFix.exe file.

    - For Windows Vista, right-click on the TwinFix.exe file then select Run as administrator and click Continue.

6. When you see the message saying your computer will be restarted after the malware is removed, click OK  to continue.

Note: The TwinFix tool will run silently (i.e. no window will appear) and automatically restart your computer once it has removed the malware listed in Virus.txt.

Re: Vista Total Security 2011

Thanks! Your the man Man. :smileyvery-happy: Any thoughts on how to get my computer to run EXE files without right clicking and clicking run as administrator? If I double click an application it asks me what program to open it with.

Re: Can't get rid of "Vista Total Security 2011" HELP!!!

I just got scammed into purchasing Vista Total Security 201.  Please can someone at Trend Micro help me with removal of this? I ran my TrendMicro Scan twice and it dd not find anything, yet whenever I access the nternet the lower tab eads as Vista Total Security 2011 while the top tab reads as the actual website I am visiting.  I am noticing big delays with my pc - slowness/freezng  and also missing letters I type on the keyboard.  I ran the Hijack log - Please see below:

Re: Can't get rid of "Vista Total Security 2011" HELP!!!

Hi LG13

Please follow the steps below:

PART 1: FIX CHECK HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

1. Open the HiJackThis program.

2. Click on Do a system scan only.
3. Place a check on the boxes across the following items:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {55b8f6ed-2800-4f27-974a-80ef13a91083} - C:\Program Files (x86)\MyFunCardsbarIE\bar\1.bin\c8SrcAs.dll
O2 - BHO: Toolbar BHO - {664a876f-a887-4016-abb7-423f1129d6ca} - C:\PROGRA~2\MYFUNC~2\bar\1.bin\c8bar.dll
O2 - BHO: Search Assistant BHO - {a53d3e99-2d75-4752-a2b4-b2c727d7df8c} - C:\Program Files (x86)\MyFunCardsbarIE\bar\1.bin\c8SrcAs.dll

4. Click on Fix checked.
5. Close the HijackThis program.

PART 3: TWINFIX

1. Download Virus.txt attached on this  thread.

2. Read the License Agreement for the TwinFix tool.

Click on the link below to view the License Agreement:

http://solutionfile.trendmicro.com/solutionfile/TIS/TwinFix_V2_License_Agreement.txt

Note: When you click directly on the link you might receive an error message. Please copy the entire link and paste it in the address bar of a new browser and then press enter.

Only proceed with the next step if you agree with its terms.

3. Download and run TwinFix.exe by doing the following:

a.Close all open applications.

b. Download the TwinFix.exe file using the link below and save it to your desktop:

  http://solutionfile.trendmicro.com/solutionfile/TIS/TwinFix.exe

If you are unsure how to download and save the file, see below:

i. When the File Download window opens, click Save.

ii. On the Save As window, select Desktop as the location for the downloaded file and click Save.

c. Run TwinFix.exe by doing either of the following:

• For Windows XP, double-click on the TwinFix.exe file.

• For Windows Vista, right-click on the TwinFix.exe file then select Run as administrator and click Continue.

d. When you see the message saying your computer will be restarted after the malware is removed, click OK  to continue.

Note: The TwinFix tool will run silently (i.e. no window will appear) and automatically restart your computer once it has removed the malware you listed in Virus.txt.

After doing all these steps, your computer should be free of any virus and be protected again with your Trend Micro program.

PART 4: DELETING TEMPORARY FILES

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

For Vista: Click Start, and then click Start Search.

2. Type in %TEMP% and then press Enter or click OK.

3. Delete all the contents of the Temp folder.

PART 5: DISK CLEANUP

1. Click on Start, and then click My Computer or Computer.

2. Right click on Local Disk ( C: ) or OS ( C: ) and click Properties.

3. Click on Disk Cleanup.

4. When another window appears, put a check on all the boxes then click OK.

5. Wait until the cleanup is finished then close the window.

6. Restart the computer and verify if the symptoms about the malware are still present.

Hope this helps!

Artee

Re: Vista Total Security 2011- PLEASE HELP!

OOPS! so I decided to go ahead and change the virus.txt to the file that appeared to be my problem "..alk.exe" and then ran the TwinFix program. I think the virus is indeed gone but now "explorer.exe- APPLICATION NOT FOUND"

what do I do!?
