Re: how to remove Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension 6.5.0.1234

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder that these forums are not setup as a support channel but as a peer to peer service for people to get in touch with each other concerning Trend Micro Products and Share their Trend Micro Experiences with one another.

Here is a quote from our community guidelines found here

Quote:

"Finally, Trend Micro provides no formal customer support via these boards. However, employees from many different Trend Micro departments actively follow and sometimes volunteer their expertise and new information to these discussions. Trend Affiliates and our knowledgeable fans may also volunteer their knowledge and experience. If you are a Trend Micro customer you are welcome to open a formal case for support. Support contact information is located on the Community header menus, on trendmicro.com, and in your software.

I suggest you contact Customer Support directly if you need assistance ASAP.

Here's the info: http://us.trendmicro.com/us/about/contact/index.html

Thank you for understanding.

Re: how to remove Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension 6.5.0.1234

Thanks for the reply. When I see people post questions and replies from people who have "trend micro" under their avatar, I assume I can get an official reply to my question at this forum.

So I followed your suggestion to open a case with link you provided.

So when I go to the link to open a case I pick my product, year and language. When I get to the pulldown that asks for OS, there are no options except for what is already there; "--choose from--". Obviously, this makes it impossible for me to post my questions. What can I do about this? All I can do is post my situation here and hope someone offers a solution.

Thanks

Have you tried calling the toll-free: 1-800-864-6027?

Re: how to remove Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension 6.5.0.1234

Hello,

Thanks to rezman for his post, with his steps, I managed to remove the Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension although Trend Micro is not able (or doesn't want) to provide a clear walkthrough to remove completey its toolbar from Firefox.

My system: Win 7 Home x64 + Firefox 8.0 + Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension 6.5.0.1234

1/ In Firefox, open about:config and search the keyword "trend", there is a variable called "extensions.installCache" and check its value. Close Firefox.

2/ Use the pathname provided for the Trend Micro extension and go to

"C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\AMSP\Module\20004\1.5.1464\6.6.1081\firefoxextension"

then delete or rename this folder (maybe you will need to close Trend Micro applications)

3/ Open the Windows registry (Windows+R > regedit.exe) and search the key

- for x64 OS: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions"

- for x86 OS: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions"

then delete the value {22C7F6C6-8D67-4534-92B5-529A0EC09405} (it's the GUID of the Trend Micro extension)

4/ Restart Firefox, open about:addons, Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension 6.5.0.1234 is gone.

Open about:config, search extensions.installCache, no more info about the Trend Micro extension.

Enjoy.

Re: how to remove Trend Micro NSC Firefox Extension 6.5.0.1234

Re.

I have to add step #3 is surely enough to remove the Trend Micro extension from Firefox add-on manager, deleting the extension folder is likely optional, I guess. So delete the registry keys and restart the computer (it's like that too to remove the BitDefender Antiphishing Toolbar in Firefox).
