Having to turn my security system off for 30 minutes at a time

I don't understand why my security system makes me turn it off. Makes me put in my password then shuts off my security and then I have to go back and re do a whole email or whatever I was doing. It shuts it off for 30 minutes. And my whole email contacts were stolen and emails were sent out to everyone supposedly from me but I didn't send them. They were sent from a Canadian Pharmacy. What makes my Internet Security 2011 do that?
